Trailer Loading Line

Trailer Loading Line consisting of an RW32 Transplanter, ND Denester, RT12 Tray Filler, Compost supply system including 2 x Vertical Bale Openers, Incline Compost Conveyor, Trailer Loading Unit and Fork attachment for unloading a full trailer at once.

Towards the end of 2018 and early 2019 we undertook a project to automate the transplanting process of a large bedding plant grower, from the supply of compost through to placing the packs on the floor in the green house. With Brexit looming and the availability of good staff looking at risk, the customer wanted to future proof his business by ensuring that the transplanting and laying down processes could be done as efficiently as possible. Together with the customer and our suppliers at Urbinati we set to work designing a line of equipment that would eliminate as much of the manual handling side of the transplanting and laying down processes as possible.

Transplanting lines are our bread and butter We have hundreds of lines across the UK, including two lines at another of this customers sites. This line consists of an RW32 Transplanter with 24 heads, an RT12 tray filler, an ND denester and the compost supply system, featuring two Vertical Bale Openers and several conveyors.

Once the packs have been planted, they move onto the bespoke trailer loading system. This loads up to 4000 packs per hour onto trailers with the option of watering them at the same time.

Finally, there is the placing fork mounted on the bespoke forklift. This picks a full trailer of packs at once and places them on the ground.

The whole line including laying down the packs is operated with 3-4 people vastly increasing efficiency. After the packs have been loaded into the denester, they are not handled again by the staff until they are ready for dispatch. The site is fully equipped with Urbinati Boom Irrigation, meaning that watering and spraying is also fully automated.
